“Being healthy isn’t about getting on a scale. Focus on what matters: how you feel, and how you feel about yourself”

 Personal Trainer in Boulder CO

Some of the benefits of working with a personal trainer include building strength, preventing injuries, and gaining the knowledge and confidence to maintain an active lifestyle. Find out more about how it works.

How does personal training work?

We will start with an in-depth information gathering process. This information will create the foundation we’ll use to build your fitness program. Next we set a schedule based on your goals and your lifestyle: Do you have young kids at home? Busy job? Do you need to be fit for your wedding in 6 weeks? We’ll plan accordingly.

Next we create your workout program, and get moving. We’ll meet either in-person, or via video, 1-2 times per week for your workouts, and modify the program as needed. In our personal training sessions we will guide you through each exercise, coach you on correct exercise form, and encourage you to push a little harder than you might want to.

How will a personal trainer help me?

Working with a personal trainer can make a big difference in helping you succeed at your fitness goals. Having a weekly or bi-weekly appointment with a fitness trainer will help you stick to a regular exercise program. More importantly, a trainer will make sure you’re using correct form when exercising, something that is critical for preventing injury and setbacks.

Studies have shown that there are many benefits to working with a personal trainer. People work harder with a trainer than they do on their own, and our clients agree with that! Studies also show that people who use a trainer build knowledge and the confidence to maintain an active lifestyle long after their coaching ends.

How do health coaches and personal trainers work together?

Health coaching and personal training are a natural fit. A health coach helps you build new habits (like exercise), and a personal trainer coaches you to do the exercises with good form and the correct intensity to see results.

As both a certified personal trainer and a certified health coach, we are able to incorporate aspects of both disciplines in our work, depending on your needs. As each process requires time and attention to detail, it’s best to conduct them separately to make sure you get the most results for your effort. We can schedule these appointments back to back, or on separate days, depending on what works best for you.

How often do I need to work with a personal trainer?

Each of us have different goals and needs, so the frequency of meeting with a personal trainer will be different for everyone. Studies show that it takes an average of 66 days for a new behavior to become automatic. Based on experience we recommend that clients start with a commitment of at least 6-8 weeks, meeting 1 or 2 times per week, depending on your goals and schedule.

How long will it take to reach my fitness goals?

That depends on your specific goal, your current fitness level, and how much time you have in your week for exercise. Are you working on building strength and endurance for a multi-day hiking vacation? Do you want to build strength so you can walk without knee pain? Or are you just wanting to feel better and have more energy? Each of these goals will take different amounts of time and different routines to achieve.

In general, once you start a consistent exercise routine, you will start to feel better within 2-3 weeks. You will notice changes in strength and muscle tone within 1-3 months. Additionally being consistent with doing the workouts, and challenging yourself to get outside of your comfort zone while exercising are some of the keys to seeing results sooner.
